Project Engineer - Chemical / Refinery

Position Description:
Has the authority and responsibility for project design and engineering projects required to introduce new equipment and technologies to the facilities. Ensuring the highest level of productivity completing projects on schedule.
The responsibilities of the Project Engineer include, but are not limited to the following activities:
Developing and interpreting engineering specification/drawings.
Designing and implementing new and innovative methods to address the various plant requirements.
Problem solving is an on-going activity and thus crosses various disciplines, requiring assistance be given when and wherever necessary.
Comply with all environmental, health, safety and housekeeping programs.
Create and maintain monthly PEA project update reports.
Manage approved projects.
Conduct Pre-Startup Safety Reviews for completed projects.
Prepare and/or update procedures and work instructions for new equipment/processes.
Assist with troubleshooting process problems and identify engineering solutions which reduce downtime and conserve maintenance costs.
Requirements:
Minimum of ten years direct experience in project engineering, with a thorough working knowledge of mechanical and electrical design elements, as well as developing specifications, also engineering planning skills. Ten years hands-on experience in the heavy manufacturing industry, mechanical systems troubleshooting, design, fabrication, manufacturing, installations and operations.
AutoCAD/Solidworks experience, minimum one year. Additional experience desired: metals recovery, smelting and converting; ferrous and non-ferrous metals selection and application; high temperature refractory and metals selection and application; large capacity air/gas/O2 fired furnaces; CMMS and MP2 application, implementation and utilization; SCAQMD, OSHA, NIOSH, Industrial Ventilation requirements, permitting, standards and regulations; ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18000 awareness.
Must be computer literate, including Word, Excel and Microsoft Project. Experience in managing technical projects from inception through the entire cycle. Strong written, verbal communication and project tracking skills are a prerequisite for the Project Engineer.
Compensation:
$80,000 - $90,000 Estimated Annual Salary
